Virginia Warbird Weekend at the Military Aviation Museum – June 19/20, 2021 – Warbirds News

OUR FLEET

The Military Aviation Museum in Pungo, Virginia has just announced that they will be holding the Virginia Warbird Weekend, their first air show of 2021, over the weekend of June 19/20. It will have a naval theme, and likely feature the magnificent FG-1D from their collection, pictured above, alongside many other important types! The socially distanced show will have only limited tickets available, so be sure to order yours soon! Their press release continues as follows…
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (April 20, 2021) – The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA will be transforming its 130-acre campus into a fully functioning WWII Airfield! This safe, socially distanced event will have a limited capacity, but plenty of room for visitors to spread out; it is scheduled for June 19 and 20, 2021.
The event will celebrate the Greatest Generation and their legacy of courage, determination, service and sacrifice, with a special emphasis on the US Navy and our Hampton Roads Community, home to a long tradition of Naval Aviation. The show will even feature a demonstration of the first aircraft to take-off from aboard a ship, with a flying re-creation of an aircraft designed more than 100 years ago.
The stars of the show will undoubtedly be the selection of WWII US Navy aircraft taking part in the flying display, which will include a selection from the Military Aviation Museum’s Collection, alongside a veritable squadron of other iconic warbirds from around the world.
Virginia Warbird Weekend will also feature Living History displays on the ground and musical performances from 1940s-style entertainers as well as a hospitality area for WWII & Korean War veterans, who will be admitted to the show free of charge along with a guest. The show will also host an Aviation Discovery Zone with activities for the whole family!
“We are excited to see our tremendous collection of vintage aircraft taking to the skies as part of an airshow once again,” said Keegan Chetwynd, Director of the Military Aviation Museum. “We feel that the stories these airplanes tell are incredible, with each standing as a monument to the men and women who built, flew and maintained them more than 75 years ago. Every time they take flight together, we celebrate our history, and we salute our veterans.”

We have our tickets! Coming from over an hour away … will there be a schedule of events/list of planes and activities posted at some point? Thanks in advance!
Haven’t been able to find a schedule myself, but am sure it will be an excellent show. We also will be traveling 45 minutes to and hour to get there, depending on the traffic. We are very much looking forward to this event.
