Private jet company XO aims to fill dozens of new technology jobs in South Florida.
The Fort Lauderdale company is hiring software engineers, developers, data science architects and more this year as it scales. XO has a total of 143 job openings and aims to boost its employee count by 34% this year.
A representative said many of the new hires will be based in South Florida, but did not confirm how many will be remote.
XO aims to use technology and data analytics to make private aviation more accessible to the masses. Users can book a seat or charter an entire aircraft on the company’s mobile app, updated in real time to show the latest availability.
“We’ve seen a massive influx in demand for private travel, creating an emphasis on recruitment and technological advancements that allow us to meet customer needs,” said Michelle Bauman, chief HR director at XO.
XO operates flights across North America and Europe, going everywhere from Anchorage to Paris. Its most popular route is between New York and South Florida, with more than 50,000 flight hours between those destinations in 2021. Other popular routes include Aspen, Colorado to South Florida, Montreal to South Florida and London to South Florida.
XO is part of Vista Global Holding, a private aviation firm headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In 2019, Vista merged the company – formerly known as XOJET – with rival private jet venture JetSmarter and rebranded the combined ventures as XO.
Private jet demand has boomed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Business jet take-offs and landings were up 40% year-over-year last November and reached their highest rate since 2008, according to Morgan Stanley. The trend was partially driven by wealthy travelers’ pivot to private flying to avoid crowds during Covid.
