As fall approaches, many travelers are clamoring to book last-minute summer trips. Airlines are responding in kind, offering flash sales for travel through late summer.
The latest notable deal? Avelo Airlines' end-of-summer sale, which is offering nonstop domestic fares from its home base outside of Los Angeles at Hollywood Burbank Airport for up to 50 percent off.
The cheap fares—which are as low as $29 one-way and are valid for travel through September 2021—are a perfect opportunity for travelers based on the West Coast to eke out one last trip before autumn officially arrives. To receive the discount, flights must be booked by August 31, 2021.
Fly from Hollywood Burbank to wine country in Santa Rosa / Sonoma County, California, for as low as $29 one-way. Routes from Burbank to Redding, California—home to the massive scenic waterfall at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park—also start at $29 one-way.
Another option: Take a jaunt through the pristine nature and culinary scene of Oregon's Willamette Valley, with one-way flights from Burbank to Eugene, Oregon, starting at $39, and to Redmond/Bend, Oregon, as low as $44. And if you're looking to squeeze in an iconic national park trip before the weather cools off, search Avelo's flights to Bozeman, Montana, a city that is considered a gateway for both Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park; fares are as low as $59 one-way during the sale.
Or opt for a long weekend of hiking and wildlife spotting through the state parks of Salt Lake City, another destination included in the sale with fares starting at $44.
Avelo is considered an ultra-low-cost airline—meaning it flies all-economy planes and charges an extra fee for most services. But the budget airline does have some advantages over its bare-bones competitors: Every passenger on Avelo, for instance, gets a snack and water bottle. Its ancillary fees are also some of the lowest in the industry, with the first checked bag starting at just $10. Other perks include priority boarding for $10, seat selection starting at $5, and the option to bring along a pet for $95. The airline plans to launch East Coast routes this fall.
And the airline offers an additional measure of flexibility: Customers can change or cancel their flight up to 15 minutes before departure and receive the fare amount in the form of a travel credit.
