Finnair’s new nonstop service between Helsinki and Alaska Air’s Seattle hub launches June 1
Alaska Airlines and Finnish flag carrier Finnair have announced an expanded codeshare arrangement. Under the agreement, customers on Finnair’s new nonstop service between Helsinki and Seattle can book connecting flights to more than 60 destinations across Alaska Air’s network.
Service connecting Finnair’s Helsinki Airport home with Alaska Air’s hub at Seattle-Tacoma International begins June 1 with flights three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – aboard Finnair’s Airbus A330.
Connecting Finnair’s network across Europe and beyond with dozens of Alaska Air’s popular markets will bring the Continent and much of the West Coast closer together, according to Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances at Alaska Airlines.
The codeshare flights with Alaska will be identified on Finnair’s website and the carrier’s other booking platforms.
Pieper said the carrier joined the Oneworld alliance “for the opportunity to expand partnerships with world-class airlines such as Finnair.” Since becoming a Oneworld member in March 2021, Alaska has added more than 250 codeshare routes.
In addition to Finnair, the US carrier has expanded cooperation with existing Oneworld partners American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines and Qantas Airways, and implemented new partnerships with member airlines Qatar Airways and Iberia Airlines.
