Aeronexus to run Botswana charters from US and Europe – ch-aviation

OUR FLEET

Charter specialist Aeronexus Corporate (ARN, London Stansted) is to operate high-end tourist flights from Europe and the US to Botswana’s Okavango Delta from November 2021 on behalf of South African tour operator Fly Okavango.
Flights will be conducted with Aeronexus’s VIP-configured B767-300(ER) which is fitted with 96 premium lie-flat seats. Aeronexus is FAA-approved and also has a worldwide Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), according to its website. The company is based near Johannesburg O.R. Tambo in Kempton Park, South Africa, and at London Stansted.
Stephen Becker, chief executive of Johannesburg-based Fly Okavango, said set package tours would depart from Munich (Germany) and West Palm Beach Int’l (US) to Maun, the gateway to the Delta, in November.
From May 2022, the European departures will switch to Aeronexus’s Stansted base. Original plans to leave from Stansted in 2021 had to be shelved due to UK COVID-19 restrictions.
Aeronexus will also switch to a larger 120-seat A340-500 (in the process of being registered) from May, to accommodate add-on flights from Maun to Cape Town.
Private charter specialist FliteStar Private Jets, based in Knutsford, UK, will be available to transfer passengers in Europe and the US to the departure points if required.
Transfers from Maun to safari lodges and Victoria Falls will be handled by each participating lodge group’s preferred operator, Becker said. Tour packages will be offered in cooperation with andBeyond, Barclay Stenner, Belmond, Golden Africa Safaris, Great Plains Conservation, Natural Selection, Red Carnation Hotels Xigera, Wilderness Safaris, and have been endorsed by Botswana Tourism, according to the company brochure.
Becker said feedback from the market has been positive, especially in the last three weeks. Rates range from USD39,200 to USD48,200 per person ex-Munich; and USD45,000 to USD59,950 per person from Palm Beach, depending on the season.
From November, flights to Maun will operate as follows:
From May, flights would operate as follows:
Hello Airlines (Bangladesh) (Dhaka) took delivery of its first ATR72-200(F) which will be operated under a new brand, NXT Air (Dhaka).
On dry lease from ACIA Aero, ZS-XCM (msn 395) was ferried to Dhaka on June 12, 2021, in an all-white livery. The 27.3-year-old Avions de Transport Régional turboprop was originally delivered to ASA – Atlantic Southeast Airlines (EV, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) and was recently operated by Solenta Aviation (SET, Lanseria) since 2017, the ch-aviation fleets history module shows. It has yet to be deployed into revenue service, while its forthcoming Bangladeshi registration remains unknown.
“This is a time for air operators to explore new revenue opportunities and we see a positive long-term partnership with ACIA to deliver on these opportunities. The addition of this ATR 72 freighter will further support our business growth and those of our partners,” NXT Air Chief Executive Nizam Ahmad said.
Hello Airlines currently operates a single ATR42-300(F). The carrier did not respond to ch-aviation’s…
Malta-based Aeronexus International, a sister firm of Aeronexus Corporate (ARN, London Stansted), has announced it has acquired Malta’s Privajet (PVJ, Malta Int’l) and its European Union-based Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) for an undisclosed amount.
The South African business charter specialist said it will transfer its only aircraft, B767-300(ER) ZS-NEX (msn 24865), to Privajet’s AOC and the Maltese registry by mid-2020. The aircraft will be Privajet’s second in-house unit after a Bombardier Business Aircraft Global 6000.
"Building on our success in the wide-body VIP charter market, the opportunity to obtain a European AOC and bring Privajet into the group comes at a very opportune time," Aeronexus’s UK-based head of commercial, Gareth Evans, said.
Aeronexus’s founders Gavin Harrison and Sven Petersen will join Privajet’s board.
Aeronexus operates the 29.8-year-old Boeing widebody in a 96-passenger configuration. The aircraft is based out of London Stansted.
Editorial Comment: The article has been corrected to reflect that Privajet was bought by Malta's Aeronexus International. – 04.05.2020 – 07:20 UTC
